One of the most beautiful things about Indy comics is you truly never know what to expect. Some are quite impressive and some are decent attempts. There comes a title every now and then that just strikes your interest. For me, that current title goes by the name Chaos Campus: Sorority Girls vs. Zombies.
I’m a big fan of The Walking Dead so instantly I wanted to see if this would be in the same league. Sorority Girls vs. Zombies takes a more light hearted parody take on the zombie stories. We are introduced to a very interesting trio of ladies. We have Paige, the level headed lady in command, Brittany, the busty ditz, and Jamie, the “takes crap from no one” fighter of the group. Putting these three women together brings some nice character interaction in the middle of the zombie chaos. The first story involves Brittany trying to film everywhere they go which pisses off Jamie. These three are on the
university trying to survive, find food, and information on what exactly is going on. Brittany stands out for her easily scared mind. The fact that she wants to check her e-mail over getting the required things like food amuses me. The whole story has its serious moments but it is mostly just an amusing adventure.
The final story has the girls looking for weapons in the dorms. Paige and Brittany end up capturing a zombie and “torture” the zombie with their twisted humor. Both of these stories are very laid back and a nice welcome to the usual dramatic, serious zombie stories we are used to.
The art on the first tale is very nice. Really helps set the kind of mood this story is about. I could say that the boobs are a tad bit oversized. Then again, it helps humor of the story when the characters get into arguments and insult each others looks. Andy Screen did a fine job and I hope to see him return for another story.
The second story has decent art. I think what takes away from the art is black and white shady isn’t doing the art justice.
In the end, this preview of Chaos Campus: Sorority Girls vs. Zombies has left me with a good impression. I would love to see the further adventures of these girls. If Approbation Comics comes out with books just as enjoyable as this Preview book, then they will earn themselves a lot of dedicated fans. So bring out more Chaos Campus and this fan boy will be very happy!
