Billy Vs Red features the first cross over of Hayden Fryer's "Billy Damon" and Rachel McLachlan's "Red" characters. The first part which is written by Rachel McLachlan and is titled "A Smooth Beginning" shows the friendly banter between Billy and Red, who are hanging out together playing video games in an arcade. The second part is drawn by Hayden Fryer, but it has the same characters from the first adventure.

It was a fantastic idea putting two similiar characters with an unfortunate habit of attracting demonic and monstrous types together in a new story. The characters Red and Billy by themselves were interesting, but you can really see more of their personalities when they're talking or fighting with each other through the dialogue. Red's pretty cool and confident in trouble luckily as a strange creature invades the arcade where she works. Billy seems more confident in his hometown than when he's hanging out with Red playing games. Since he's more aware of unusual happenings at home, he's less troubled this time when he comes across the creature again.

The first part which was written and drawn by McLachlan and shows some really dynamic team-up sequences where Billy and Red are battling the monster together, using their own wits to survive. The artwork in this part leans towards manga, and the style is uniquely distinctive. The second part was drawn by Hayden Fryer which features darker and thicker lines but displays a vivid sense of imagination with the atmosphere created.

Billy Vs Red is a story that is fun and entertaining. It's all nicely self-contained within an issue and doesn't leave you hanging. The character development alone makes it worth reading, especially if you're already a fan of any of the characters.
