In the fifth installment of the vampire cult series "Jaeger", the mysterious villain known as "Stormwalker" is on the loose and causing some serious trouble, starting with the murder of an innocent man. Normally Jaeger wouldn't concern himself with such events but the presence of Stormwalker is causing some disruption and worry in Jaeger's life. If that wasn't bad enough, he has to team up with Raven, a man who's a master of magick and is also tracking down Stormwalker for his own reasons. Jaeger decides to keep his vampire identity a secret since it probably wouldn't go down too well with Raven, but naturally his own abilities and powers raise some questions when he's forced to use them. In the quest of tracking down the remorseless and dangerous murderer, both Jaeger and Raven learn some harsh truths about themselves and their past.

The story is very different to the previous issues. Since the whole Azharoth event has been resolved more or less, Jaeger has barely had time to rest before he's off on a new mission. This time he's partnered with someone he barely gets along with but this doesn't worry him too much. What does worry him however is his continued need for blood and his desire to keep his real self hidden from Raven while they're both on a road trip together, hunting down Stormwalker's real location. I enjoyed the attempt on Jaeger's side to keep things friendly and smooth on the journey by having keeping a light-hearted attitude towards everything, while Raven grudgingly reveals more about his real home which is in another dimension. In this collection, it reveals more of Stormwalker's own past, the reason he is who he is today, and we also get a glimpse of the medieval past where he lived.

The creator Tanya Nicholls does a superb job of the artwork as usual. There's some insanely drawn fight scenes where regenerative powers come in really handy. As usual, trouble and violence follows Jaeger everywhere, especially as he encounters people who make him feel very unwelcome so the results of their meetings are often amusing or gory depending on Jaeger's mood as he takes advantage of his vampire powers either to feed or simply to leave them in embarrassing positions on purpose.

This trade paperback edition collects issues 18 to 23 of the supernatural comic. The publisher's website for this series is at Storm Publishing and they also have plot summaries too if you want to read more. I would recommend this series to anyone who has a fascination with vampires, magic, supernatural creatures and other dimensions. This story has a lot of action, drama, fantasy and humour which all makes it a very entertaining experience. This volume is also a great introduction to the Jaeger character as it contains all the information you need to know about him, as well as a stand-alone story that doesn't tie into the previous volumes.
