This is another example of being teased for picking up a book. A friend of mine gave me a lot of crap for buying this one. I could really careless seeing that some of the other crap he reads I feel good about buying this. It seemed like a funny, “what the heck” kind of book that would be good for a few laughs.

This one-shot contains the five back stories that were in the back of the Power Pack mini Marvel released not to long ago. We follow the adventures of Franklin and H.E.R.B.I.E., which usually turns into chaos. H.E.R.B.I.E. was built to watch over Franklin but usually ends up getting involved in the chaos. It is kind of funny seeing all the trouble Franklin can get into right under the noses of his parents. The whole book reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes style. Eliopoulos art was a great pick for these types of stories. The book managed to get me to laugh at certain parts to myself. The book is different from your average marvel title but it also manages to let you have a good time reading it.

Marc Sumerak seems to be the writer to go to when you want an all-ages Marvel title. His Ororo: Before the Storm was quite nice. If you want a safe Marvel title for someone younger, best bet is to pick up one he writes. I’m glad DC and Marvel are taking the time to produce some kid-friendly titles. The comic industry will fade away in the future if they fail to bring in new fans.
